The University of Pretoria has a variety of support services available on campus. Various development programmes are available to ensure that all students have sufficient reading, writing and analytical skills for academic progress.

Day students have the opportunity to take part in res activities by joining one of the four day houses at UP. These day houses are specifically geared towards incorporating day students into all aspects of student life.

AfriForum Youth has lodged an urgent appeal at UP to disclose the results of the elections, as stipulated in a media press release on 1 November. The appeal is based on the Access to Information Act (section 32 in the Bill of Rights) representing the election results as information within public interest.

The Research Commons and Leadership and Training Centre were officially opened on 14 November 2011 in the UP Merensky Library on Main Campus.

The IEC announced today that a re-election is to be held early next year. This following recommendations made by the Independent Monitoring Body (IMB), who, after a meeting on 17 October, declared the 2011/2012 Student Parliamentary elections “free but not fair”.

According to University management, “The premises of Bravo’s Pizzeria are not zoned as a place of entertainment and may not host weekly events like these.”

Tuks Brewery hosted a beer tasting event for select guests last week. During this event, the guests were taught about the finer points of beer tasting, while sampling five of the brewery’s own beers.

On Monday 17 October, the Department of Student Affairs held the opening ceremony for the newly-renovated Roosmaryn building on Hatfield campus. Roosmaryn is now the new headquarters of Student Affairs.
